North Meets South (Part-6)

Amala and Montek came back to the college in second year. Since each one belonged to a separate branch, they started sitting in different classes, but the messaging continued. No one in NIT cares when some fest or cultural or robotic event happens with in the NIT, but Amala and Montek waited for such events. These were the only moments, they could work together. But both of them never felt the love between them; they just felt that they liked working together. They helped each other whenever they can, with whatever possible means they have.

The semester is about to end, and just like last time, Montek personally dropped Amala in the station. Montek bid alvida and came back to the hostel. After a while Montek’s phone rang,

Montek – “Hey Amala,”

Amala – “ Hey, Montek, can I tell you one thing ?”

Montek – “Sure, anything”

Amala – “I felt like hugging you, when you were leaving me at the station”

Montek – “So,”

Amala – “Do you think, it’s right ? To get a feeling like that ?”

Montek – “Look, I too felt the same. It happens between friends”

Amala – “No Montek, I am not happy. Every time I was going for home, I felt very happy. But not this time”

Montek – “Hey, don’t think too much. Go to home, enjoy and come back”

Amala – “I Love you”

Montek – “What, are you kidding ?”

Amala – “No, I am serious, I love you”

Montek was silent. He did not speak for 20 seconds. He cut the phone. His phone started ringing again

Amala – “Hey, don’t take it serious”

Montek – “No no, I can understand. It happens”

Amala – “So, we are still friends?”

Montek – “Yes”

Amala – “I mean, it just came out, unexpectedly. So.”

Montek – “Hey, don't bother your mind. I say it too Upman all the time, it doesn't mean we are gays. In friendship, these are all common”

Amala was silent for a few seconds,

Amala – “Ok then, will talk to you later”

Montek – “Ok, bye and don’t think too much”

Amala – “Yeah, sure”

Montek has one more exam left, so he started studying, but he couldn't. Some feeling which cannot be told, started lingering his mind..
